Klairs – Freshly Juiced Duo – Korean Skincare

I have always enjoyed the idea of using a Vitamin C serum in my skincare routine. Even though my skin isn’t acne-prone or suffering from scarring; fine lines or wrinkles, I still want the hydrating, brightening and redness reducing benefits it claims to provide.  I am a firm believer in preventative skincare, and as the big 3 – 0 birthday approaches I have been on the hunt for products that not only give me results, but that are beneficial over long term use.

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that provides protection from environmental stresses to the skin and is highly rated amongst skincare lovers. (Like myself) After much deliberation, I decided to give the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum a go. Bought from yesstyle.com for £15.50 (35ml) Paraben, Alcohol, Sulfate and Cruelty Free, I knew I’d be putting something non irritating on my skin.

The (plastic) bottle is surprisingly transparent, considering that Vitamin C is vulnerable when exposed to light and air. Most products are supplied in dark, opaque bottles or with pumps to keep the ingredients stable. However, Klairs have formulated their product to slow down oxidation and to allow users to easily check the condition of the serum. The dropper is easy to use and the liquid is clear.

Notable Ingredients

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) 5% – Brightening and Anti-Aging

Centella Asiatica Extract – Wound Healing (increase collagen)

Sodium Hyaluronate – Wound Healing

Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate – Brightening and Anti-Aging

This serum can be used either in your day or night routine. However, due to the Vitamin C, if worn in the day it is recommended to wear a sunscreen to boost the effectiveness of the serum. (We should be wearing sunscreen anyway!) I personally prefer to use this in my night routine but have used it in the day numerous times. I use 1 dropper, and apply all over my face, mainly concentrating on my cheeks where my skin is red and under my eyes to help brighten.

When first applied to the skin there is a warm feeling (this is not irritation!) and it absorbs into the skin well. I have experienced zero breakouts from using this product, which makes me very happy! Although I enjoyed the product I wasn’t 100% sold on it. I was achieving more promising brightening results from my serum that contained Snail Secreation Filtrate, but I didn’t want to give up.

Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask advertised to be the “Ultimate brightening solution” when used together with the serum.

Bought from yes style.com for £21.50 (90g) This is a multifunctional product that can be used as a mask, a sleeping pack or is gentle enough to be used as a moisturiser. The mask claims to improve wrinkles, skin regeneration and prevent the signs of aging, whilst also brightening and hydrating the skin. Wearing during the day is suppose to help protect from UV rays and in the night is more focused on the skin regeneration.

Notable Ingredients

Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) – Anti-Aging

Niacinamide – Brightening and Anti-Aging

Adenosine – Anti-Aging

Centella Asiatica Extract – Wound Healing (increase collagen)

Ceramide – Anti-Aging

Sodium Hyaluronate – Wound Healing

The mask comes in a jar with a small spooned spatula. The texture is almost pudding-like and is white in colour. When using as a moisturiser (how I most commonly use it) I take 1 scoop using the provided spatula and then rub all over my face. The solid texture quickly transforms into an essence constancy and absorbs quickly into the skin. Such a small amount goes a long way. When using as a mask or sleeping pack I layer this with 2 scoops. By using these two products together, the Vitamin E helps to stabilise the Vitamin C and increase absorption and effectiveness. It’s gentle on the skin, and felt refreshing and soothing when applied, which has been a bonus during these hot summer days.

I have noticed a difference since using the two items together. My skin feels super hydrated and much brighter. Under my eyes are no longer dull and I really feel these products have contributed to this. The redness on my cheeks are fading, but as mentioned above, I see these as an investment to my skin concern prevention.  I would recommend both of these products, and although you don’t need both, together they have worked for me.

Do you use any Vitamin C or E in your skincare routine? What are your favourite Vitamin C serums? Let me know in the comments.

Love SJ

I loved the Vitamin C drop ❤ but if you want to try more stronger vitamin c's (as this one i believe is an 'introductory' vitamin c serum) you should give TIAM My Signature C Source a try 🙂

    1. Yes I think you’re right in introductory vitamin C. I will have a look into that one, I do love using Vitamin C in my routine. I’m currently testing the new Drop the Vit C from Hello Skin which seems more concentrated than the Klairs one already. SJ x
