Secret Muse – UV Vita Sun Cushion – Review

This is the first in my review from the Style Korean ‘Try me, Review me’ event. I was pleasantly surprised and extremely grateful to see my name included and kept waiting patiently at my door for the parcel to arrive. Secret Muse is all about gaining the wannabe face with magical make up artist touches.  Make up that can provide that professional, expert look from beginning to end. I received two items from this event, both the sun cushion and the cover pact in shade 21. They are ‘giant’ compacts with the concept of more product and easy application. This review will focus on the sun cushion.

UV Vita Sun Cushion SPF 50+ PA++++

The sun cushion is avaliable to purchase from Style Korean for around $38 (roughly £30). The outer layer is a cute green and white stripe cardboard box with a silver oval on the front. All details on the back are in Korean and no English is supplied (some Korean brands do). The compact itself is a large oval in a sturdy pink plastic, the green stripes are continued onto the lid of the pact. The plastic doesn’t feel like it would break easily and could be kept inside a handbag relatively safely. A large mirror is included on the inside and my whole face can be seen in the mirror which I very much enjoy. The puff included is tear shaped, perfect for the areas around the eyes and nose.

Once open, the cushion is also in this green and white stripe. The product is said to be suitable for all skin types and even for children. I didn’t try it on my child, but she is only 4 months and I’m 100% more fussy with what I apply on her skin than I do on mine. I experienced zero breakouts, and I am normally super sensitive to most sun creams. It can also be used on the body, super convenient! There is a ‘sun cream’ smell to the product when open, and this becomes stronger when applied to the skin. (My husband called it floral, or like a light perfume.) The smell does seem to linger once on the skin and I did find it a little overpowering. If other products are applied straight after application, the scent does calm down and disappear almost immediately. On its own it does fade but I could still faintly smell it after over an hour wear. When using the puff the stripes do transfer onto it, however they do not transfer in stripes onto the skin.

When applied it is very cooling on the skin and I noticed it can give a white cast. When buffed into the skin the white cast does remain, but doesn’t look too unnatural on my skin tone when applied all over. Bare in mind this could give more of an unnatural white cast on deeper skin tones. It provides protection against UVA and UVB rays and with an SPF of 50+ I do feel ‘sun safe’. Once on, it absorbs and settles well into the skin and isn’t greasy or tacky to touch at all.

I have worn this on it’s own without any foundation or powder and I didn’t look like I’d only worn sun cream. My face looked and felt hydrated and there was no drying. As a base under foundation, I found no issues. There was no slipping and I found it to act more like a primer which I liked. The white cast from before balanced out and didn’t effect any foundation I used. The product claims to be hydrating and protecting, with easy use. I would have to agree with all three of these claims. Overall I really enjoyed trying this cushion. It’s hard to say how well it works for protection as I live in the UK and we have very little sun. However any sun protection is always better than none. The size really does allow for easy, quick application and I will continue to use this as my daily sun protection.

What sunscreen do you use? Have you tried any of these ‘giant compacts? What are your thoughts on them? Let me know.

Love SJ

  1. Glad you enjoyed this I know you were looking forward to receiving it. I love the packaging, how the strips continue from box to product is a really nice touch presentation wise. I like the idea of using it as a primer, that way I know I’m sun protected but can also up my coverage with a foundation. Lovely, honest review.

    1. Thank you lovely! I was loving it just from the packaging. I feel really protected using this, and the easy application makes applying sun cream that much quicker, rather than some that can be quite thick. I think you’d enjoy it x
