Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet – Royal Jelly *Review*

I have decided to give myself a challenge. We are in the midst of a lockdown and if I’m honest I now have all the time in the world to finally sit down and write reviews. Apart from having to look after my toddler, I really don’t have any excuses!

I am doing a 7 day sheet mask challenge. I have picked 7 different masks from my never ending supply and over the next 7 days will try out and review one each day. I’m also keen to see how my skin will look at the end of the week and will continue to use the same cleanser, toner and moisturiser so it is only the serum element that is changing each day.

I found the mask fitted my face okay, it wasn’t the best fit but I made it work. The material wasn’t as thin as some I’ve worn, as you can see in the picture above, but it wasn’t thick either. The sheet was easy to unfold and apply onto my face, there was a lot of excess essence, but I just took that down my neck and onto my chest. (We should never forget our neck!) It was cooling when first applied and there was a very slight scent, not overpowering at all and after a few minutes of wear I couldn’t really smell it any more.

The recommended time for this is 10-20 minutes. I left this on for 10 minutes and when removed my face was drenched in the remaining essence. The essence was really tacky and took some time to work into my skin. The more it dried, the stickier it felt but this was okay once I applied my moisturiser.

After Sheet Mask

I personally don’t like a tacky essence, as it feels like my skin can no longer absorb the goodness and it just sits on top of my skin. However, like I said, once I applied my moisturiser, that sunk nicely into my skin and I no longer felt sticky. I was left with hydrated skin that felt smooth to touch.

Overall I do feel that my face was hydrated from using this sheet mask. It should be noted that there is a high concentration of alcohol in this sheet mask (even above the royal jelly extract) I however felt no stinging sensation, or felt like my skin was being dehydrated. I did only leave this sheet mask on for the minimum 10 minutes, so unsure what my skin would feel like for the full 20 minutes. In regards to the claim that this mask benefits wrinkles, I think it’s too early to say without prolonged use.

Although my skin feels healthy and has a glow I’m not sure if I’d use this mask again due to the tackiness of the essence. I would try other masks from nature republic, as the tackiness could be due to the royal jelly ingredient rather than something that consists in all their sheet masks.

Have you used this sheet mask, and if so what did you think?
