Holika Holika Pure Essence Mask Sheet – Lemon *Review*

Day 2 in my own personal 7 day sheet mask challenge and I’m already loving my little routine. Being able to pamper myself through this difficult and unknowing time is a little luxury I like to give to myself and can only wish I carry this on once all of this has passed.

My skin today was still feeling smooth and hydrated from yesterday. I did notice slight redness and irritation around the edges of my nose and on my chin. My nose I think is from blowing it recently and the corse tissue has rubbed the skin a bit raw. My chin feels like a breakout is immanent and I will most likely use a pimple patch later on in the day.

I loved the packaging of this mask! There was an easy to open corner you pulled apart, and the edges cane apart to give easy access to the mask. The only downside to this, would be if you like to keep the remaining essence until another day. There wasn’t loads of essence left at the bottom though. The mask itself was relatively thin and moulded to the face quite precisely. I found this to be a decent fit to my face and enjoyed the instant cooling effect when applied. This fitted really well around my mouth and chin area, where I usually struggle the most.

Recommend time for this mask is 10-20 minutes and I left this on for about 12-13 minutes. I prefer to remain closer to the minimum time recommended than the maximum whenever I mask, be that wash off or sheet. The mask was covered in a good amount of essence but it wasn’t too much. It adhered well to the face but no excess product dripped down, like I have experienced with others. I did feel a very, very slight tingling sensation around the edges of my nose and on my chin. The two areas that I said are slightly sensitive for me at the moment. I wouldn’t say it caused more irritation, as my skin wasn’t red when I removed the mask, but I think this was due to the lemon and the exfoliating properties from this ingredient.

After Use

Once removed the essence was easy to pat into my skin, and wasn’t tacky or sticky to touch. It had a very watery consistency so felt very gentle on the skin. In regards to the claims I’m not sure if the mask improved the skin elasticity after one use, but my skin did feel soft and hydrated. It should be noted, after applying moisturiser, the texture changed to feeling sticky. I’m not sure if this is due to how the essence dries down, or if it mixed funny with the moisturiser I used (Drunk Elephant’s Protini Polypeptide Cream).

Overall I would use this mask again and I’d be open to use other masks from the same range. I’m not sure if I’d want to use if my skin was highly irritated though. Hope you’re all staying happy, healthy and safe!
